On Saturday 9/9/23, we cut the ribbon to celebrate our new store in Salem!

What a celebration it was! We were welcomed with open arms by the Salem community and look forward to seeing the impact that this new store will continue to provide.

Daily Table’s new Salem store will open on September 8, with a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebrations on September 9! The store will be sparkling, and the shelves will be stocked—thanks in part to the generosity and hard work of our volunteers.

Volunteer Margaret Costello has made the commute to Salem several times from the South Shore, spending the whole day working on getting Daily Table ready to open. “I wouldn’t have missed this for the world! Helping to get the new store ready is the best thing I’ve done this whole summer!”

My name is Anna Dugan, known as artist Annadidathing. I’m from Salem. I’ve been painting since I can remember, but I’ve been doing this full time sinceJuly of 2020, which is kind of crazy to think about. It’s always really important to me to do work within this community to give back, to reflect the same kindness and togetherness that Salem has always shown me.

Families and individuals in our communities are feeling the strain on their wallets as they try to put nutritious meals on the table, sometimes needing to prioritize transportation, housing, or health costs.

Last Tuesday April 25, along with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, and MassHousing, we celebrated our new Mattapan store location and the grand opening of The Loop at Mattapan Station!

Affordable, nutritious , and delicious: non-profit grocery store opens at The Loop at Mattapan Station.

One of the first things people will notice at the new Daily Table in Mattapan is the artwork. The store has four bright, fun, beautiful murals, all designed and painted by graphic artist Ruby Rose.

Leia is passionate about her work at Daily Table, and she’s looking forward to bringing that passion to her new position as Store Manager at the new Daily Table store in Mattapan. “I really can’t wait!” she says.

In 2020, soon after the pandemic hit, Carly, one of our Roxbury customers, found herself laid off from her job and pregnant. “I had student loans, no job, and I was expecting. And I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do. But when I found Daily Table, I realized I could make my [SNAP] benefits last all month, and I could eat the way I needed to eat for the baby.”

Daily Table community grocery store is pleased to host the third annual Free Produce Day — offering any customer $15 of free fruits and vegetables, just in time for the Thanksgiving holidays!

Twyman brings extensive grocery retail experience to Daily Table. He worked at Whole Foods for nearly 30 years, working his way up from entry level and comes from his previous role as Executive Vice President of Operations.

Over the summer, thousands of school-age students lose the daily lunch provided by schools. With your help, Daily Table participated for the second time this summer in the “Local Lunchbox” free summer meals program. We prepared fresh meals in our commissary kitchen, including pizza with vegetables, BBQ chicken with roasted potatoes, and ravioli marinara with vegetables.

“This was the best day ever!” That was the verdict of a camper from Sportsmen’s Tennis Camp in Dorchester after Operation Banana Drop, Daily Table’s new summer partnership with four day camps in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Central Square.

Daily Table is pleased to participate in the Local Lunchbox program for the second year in a row! We will provide free summer lunches to anyone 18 and under, 7-days-a-week at Daily Table stores in Dorchester, Roxbury, and Central Square.
