Our Mission

Daily Table is a nonprofit grocery chain dedicated to providing fresh, tasty, convenient and nutritious food to communities most in need at prices everyone can afford. We believe that delicious and wholesome food should be available to all.

By partnering with a network of growers, manufacturers, and other suppliers, we source high-quality food at low costs and make it available to everyone at prices designed for even a SNAP budget.

Our stores provide a wide selection of SNAP-eligible foods, including fresh produce, grocery staples and made-from-scratch prepared foods. Our stores provide a shopping experience that empowers people to eat well with the power of their own dollars, offering a helping hand rather than a handout.

We create living wage jobs, with a strong preference for hiring directly from our neighborhoods.

Our Model

Our stakeholders, including our customers, donors, vendors, and volunteers, all help contribute to our mission of bringing nutritious food to communities most in need at prices everyone can afford.

Our Customers
Thanks to our customers, we are able to cover 70% of our costs through earned income generated by our stores!

Our Donors
Our donors provide funding to help cover operating expenses, new and existing store growth and development, and G&A.

Our Vendors
Our vendors provide discounts and donations to drive down our costs; we then pass those savings on to our customers.

Our Volunteers
Our volunteers provide additional staffing support and partner with our teams to better serve our customer needs.

Our History

2012

Founded by Doug Rauch, former president of Trader Joe’s, Daily Table was created to help address the challenges of hunger and obesity.

2013

We partnered with Codman Square Health Center.

2015

We opened our first store in Dorchester in Codman Square, a diverse residential community in Boston.

2017

We signed a lease with Madison Square Community Development to open a store in Nubian Square. We started our Teaching Kitchen program in collaboration with Codman Square Health Center, offering free cooking and nutrition classes.

2018

We opened our second store in Roxbury in Nubian Square.

We partnered with the Mayor’s Office of Food Access and the Fair Food Network to launch the Double Up Food Bucks program.

2020

We signed a lease for our third store in the greater Boston area, which we hope to open by the end of the year.

2021

We opened our third store in Central Square in Cambridge!

2023

We opened our fourth store in Mattapan and our fifth store in Salem!
