Renewed Roxbury Event

Daily Table received a generous donation from the Murnick Family Foundation to fund a refresh of our Roxbury store in Nubian Square, Boston. The purpose of this project was to make needed renovations (e.g., paint, original artwork, the removal of a small wall that impedes flow in the store, floor refinishing, caulking, and installation of new cabinetry) to improve store design and customer shopping experience. Preliminary results from the renovations already show a 19% increase in foot traffic at the Roxbury store year-over-year.

On Saturday, July 27, we celebrated the renovation of our Roxbury store, which is now brighter, more colorful, and cleaner, creating a more welcoming shopping environment!

Our roots in Roxbury run deep, and we’re thrilled to showcase these exciting updates to our location in Nubian Square, which has been open since 2018. Thanks to all of you, this location has seen a lot of foot traffic so it was time for a refresh!

On Saturday, the community came together to enjoy free face painting, free giveaways, and free samples! It was truly special to witness the excitement on our customers’ faces when they saw our store’s transformation for the first time.

This project isn’t just about beautifying the space; it’s about showing our respect and appreciation for our community. We hope our renovations provide our community with a warm, colorful, and welcoming retail environment where customers can afford the food, choose what they want, and feel good about the food they’re buying.

Over the past few months, we’ve worked with YouthBuild Boston to transform our Roxbury store into the space it is today. Thanks to the incredible students from YouthBuild, the store got a fresh splash of paint and a more open layout after removing a few walls.

YouthBuild Boston is an organization with a mission to provide underserved young people with the support and credentials to enter the construction and design industry successfully. And here’s the coolest part: their students get to see the direct impact of their work in their neighborhood.

Danyson Tavares, Executive Director of Youth Build, beautifully describes Daily Table’s relationship with YouthBuild Boston: “We also gain from this project because not only can we impact our community, but we can teach our young adults how to paint, how to build walls, and how to do a lot of different things so that when they go off to be, successful in the workforce, not only can they turn towards, revitalizing a part of the community, but, they have the opportunity to learn skills from these projects.”

Just days before our event, Nomad Design Collaborative generously donated their time to redo all the store floors. Our store team in Roxbury worked hard to reorganize the store layout to make for an easier shopping experience. Thank you to all our partners who made this project and event possible!
