Daily Table, a nonprofit community grocery store with a mission to make nutritious food affordable for everyone, serves diverse communities in its five stores across the Greater Boston region.
“Our stores include longtime residents, recent refugees and immigrants, and an increasing number of college students from nearby universities,” says Georgia Ferguson, director of procurement. “We have a large population from the African diaspora, including Somalia, Ethiopia and the Caribbean. There are also a number of residents from China, India, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.”

Daily Table announces return of program to address food insecurity

The Double Up Food Bucks program is designed to help families stretch their grocery budgets while making nutritious food choices more accessible. Since its launch in 2018 in partnership with the City of Boston, the Double Up Food Bucks program at Daily Table has significantly improved access to fresh fruits and vegetables for low-income families.

Starting Saturday, December 7, customers using SNAP benefits at Daily Table’s Boston and Salem locations will once again be able to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at 50% off, up to a $5 discount per day. The Double Up Food Bucks initiative is made possible with support from the City of Boston’s Office of Food Justice and its USDA Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program Grant, the City of Cambridge, the Ajana Family Foundation.

Salem Grocer Daily Table Awarded $400K Cummings Foundation Grant

Salem nonprofit grocer Daily Table was awarded $400,000 in grant funding over 10 years as part of the 2024 Cummings Foundation program. The Daily Table, which also has locations in Dorchester, Roxbury, Central Square in Cambridge and Mattapan, was one of 150 nonprofits to share in $30 million in awards this year.

The Boston-based organization was selected from a total of 715 applicants during a competitive review process and was one of 25 organizations selected for a 10-year grant, totaling $400,000 over 10 years for Daily Table.

At Daily Table in Central Square, Chang Shing Tofu remains the only tofu brand the company carries. Georgia Ferguson, Daily Table’s director of procurement, said the company remains the cheapest option for the company and consumers. “Chang Shing Tofu has been a part of our business from early on,” Ferguson said. “They’ve just really cared about our mission and always stuck with us.”
