Daily Table Community Grocer Opens New Store in Mattapan

Affordable, nutritious , and delicious: non-profit grocery store opens at The Loop at Mattapan Station

BOSTON, MA — Daily Table, a Boston-based nonprofit grocery store chain with three locations in Cambridge, Dorchester, and Roxbury, is pleased to announce the opening of its fourth store location in Mattapan Square on March 30, 2023. Daily Table’s mission is to provide nutritious, delicious, and truly affordable food to communities most in need.

This new, bright, colorful Daily Table store offers a selection of fresh produce, meat and dairy, and other grocery staples at prices that are significantly lower than other local supermarkets. Daily Table also offers an ever-changing selection of nutritious, delicious prepared foods that are less expensive than fast-food alternatives. Everything edible in Daily Table stores is eligible to be used with benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps). SNAP customers also receive a 50% discount (up to a $5 discount daily) on our already low fresh fruit and vegetable prices through the Double Up Food Bucks program. SNAP customers may also order online and receive free delivery within a 2 mile radius. As food inflation rises and federal assistance wanes, Daily Table is pleased to be able to support an additional community with good food at the lowest possible prices, best quality, and accessibility.

“The need for affordable nutrition has never been greater. Daily Table is incredibly excited to have this opportunity to serve customers from Mattapan and surrounding areas with this new store, said Rob Twyman, Daily Table Chief Executive Officer. “We will continue to deliver on our mission here in Mattapan to provide freshly prepared meals, a broad selection of fresh fruits, veggies, meats and seafood and grocery staples all at prices that are truly affordable and SNAP eligible.“

The new Daily Table is part of The Loop at Mattapan Station project —a mixed-use development with housing, retail and community space— in the heart of Mattapan Square and just steps from the MBTA Mattapan Station. The Loop at Mattapan Station will have 135 deed-restricted apartment units for low and moderate income residents and families. The development will have convenient access to public transit, ride-share, bike-share, and the Neponset River Greenway. This development will provide critically-needed affordable and market-rate housing and access to healthy affordable food and groceries with Daily Table coming to the Mattapan community.

“Daily Table is a perfect fit for The Loop, which has always been envisioned as a vibrant mixed-use, transit-oriented development,” said Cory Fellows, Vice President, Real Estate Development. “This beautiful new store will provide an affordable source of fresh, healthy food for our residents and the surrounding community.”

Daily Table Mattapan is located at 474 River Street (the corner of River St and Blue Hill Ave) and is staffed with team members hired from the local community, following the City of Boston Living Wage Ordinance. The store’s hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday . Everyone is welcome to shop, and the store accepts cash, credit, and SNAP. Daily Table will be having Grand Opening events for the public on April 6 (3:30-6:30), April 7 (3:30-6:30), and April 8 (11:00-2:00).
