Daily Table Welcomes New CEO

Sasha Purpura Brings More Than 10 Years of Nonprofit and Food Justice Experience to the Nonprofit Grocery Chain

BOSTON, MA - Daily Table, the Boston-based nonprofit grocery store chain committed to providing nutritious and affordable food to communities in need, today announced the appointment of Sasha Purpura as its new Chief Executive Officer. Purpura brings more than a decade of experience in the non-profit sector, having previously served for 10 years at Food For Free, another distinguished food-focused organization. Purpura’s passion for the Daily Table mission and dedication to addressing food insecurity will serve to elevate the organization’s impact and reach.

“Daily Table is changing the narrative around healthy food, bridging the gap for those left behind by our food system,” said Purpura. “Daily Table is about more than just feeding people; it's about creating a tight-knit community around food access, building partnerships, and engaging with the community in meaningful ways. I'm honored to be part of this team that has the potential to change the world.”

After beginning her career as a software engineer and working in tech for 15 years, Purpura and her husband started their own organic produce farm. Through her work on the farm, she found her passion in food, seeing it as the core of community and a tool to bring people together. After completing her MBA in Organizational Sustainability, Purpura began as Executive Director of Food for Free. During her ten years with the regional hunger relief organization, she grew revenues and impact tenfold. Again, her work at Food For Free centered around food and community.

Purpura and Doug Rauch, Daily Table Founder and Board Chair, had been acquainted since before the first Daily Table store opened in 2015. As Daily Table’s operational structure has grown and developed, the need for a leader familiar with the non-profit food landscape and fundraising became clear.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sasha as the new CEO of Daily Table,” said Rauch.. “Sasha's extensive experience and commitment to our mission make her the ideal leader to guide the organization into its next chapter. Together, we look forward to continuing our efforts to make nutritious food accessible to all and positively impact the communities we serve."

Every item available at Daily Table is SNAP-eligible, ensuring that individuals and families who rely on SNAP benefits can access affordable and nutritious food. As part of the Double Up Food Bucks program, SNAP shoppers receive a remarkable half-off discount on fresh fruits and vegetables, making healthy choices more accessible.

Daily Table currently operates five stores in Cambridge, Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, and Salem, MA. The organization's unique approach extends beyond providing affordable groceries – it actively engages with the community by hiring locally, offering competitive wages, and prioritizing the well-being of its staff.
