Daily Table Launches New Program to Increase Affordable Access to Healthy Milk Options
BOSTON – Daily Table, a local non-profit grocery store, today announced the launch of a program aimed at addressing the escalating issue of food insecurity in the region. Expanding its commitment to making nutritious food accessible and affordable with the launch of Add Milk. This new initiative provides customers shopping with EBT half price on skim and 1% milk, helping families stretch their grocery dollars while ensuring access to essential nutrients.
“Daily Table is on a mission to provide fresh, nutritious food at prices everyone can afford. By adding this milk incentive, we are taking another important step in making healthy choices more accessible for families in our communities,” said Sasha Purpura, CEO of Daily Table. “We are proud to partner with Auburn University’s Hunger Solutions Institute and the USDA to continue our mission of addressing food insecurity.
Add Milk is made possible through the Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University, supported by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to make milk—a vital source of protein, calcium and other essential nutrients—more affordable for families using SNAP benefits. It is currently available at more than 600 locations in more than 10 states, with new retailers joining each month. Daily Table is the first retailer to offer Add Milk In Massachusetts and is excited to be part of this growing effort to improve nutrition access nationwide
Add Milk complements Daily Table’s existing Double Up Food Bucks initiative, which offers SNAP customers 50% off fresh fruits and vegetables, further reinforcing the organization’s holistic approach to increasing food security and promoting healthy eating. The Double Up Food Bucks program is funded by the City of Cambridge, City of Boston’s Office of Food Justice, USDA Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program, the Ajana Family Foundation, and other generous partners.
“The Hunger Solutions Institute is thrilled to partner with Daily Table in bringing Add Milk to Massachusetts,” said Alicia Powers, managing director of the Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University. “Milk is an important part of a balanced diet, and this initiative ensures that families who rely on SNAP benefits can purchase more of this nutritious staple.”
